Day 15 and Beyond 051920

Day 15 and Beyond 051920

I praise God for each of you who prayed, called and supported Jamal during his battle with Covid 19! He is off the ventilator as I noted. He has completed rehabilitation and was released from the hospital last weekend.

When he and I spoke he is still regaining his stamina and his orientation. Recently, he was able to walk on his own power. God has performed a miracle in his life. Also, the Lord answered our prayer for spiritual restoration and renewal. Jamal shared how God reveal Himself to him while he was in a coma.

At this point our prayer request for emotional and relational healing among the me and the four brothers is still a valid prayer. Jamal needs your prayers as he seeks to regain his strength and stamina after being in a coma.  Also pray that he fully embrace this "second chance" that God has give him to fulfill his God given purpose. Additionally I ask that you pray that the side effect from the medicines he took would be eliminated and mitigated.

Thank you all for exemplifying Romans 12:12 by being joyful in hope, patient in tribulation and being faithful in prayer. I thank God for you and pray for your and your family as we all continue to continue to weather the storm of the pandemic.

Love you all!

Day 15 Updates

Day 15 Updates 050820

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! I talked to Jamal today. He is off the ventilator. He still has a long way to go to recover. He is Arto Woodley's son in that he wants to do it his own way. In our over an hour conversation he shared how God has spoken to him. God answered our prayer for spiritual restoration.

Now the real work has to be done so that Jamal will heed the physicians' advice to gain full health.  He and I discussed what we need to do as brothers to bring emotional healing to all our children and the family. I ask that you please pray that God completes the work in Jamal and in our whole family. Also, pray that we face our brokenness and allow God's Spirit to lead us to His Will for our lives. Continue to pray for the partnership between Jamal and the medical professionals. Ask that God give them wisdom in working with Jamal so that he knows that God is speaking through them to him.

Thank you all for standing strong for Jamal and our family. I love and appreciate each each of you.

Blessings!

Day 13 Updates

Day 13 Updates 050720

Hello family and friends! I spoke with Jamal's nurse Josh and he indicated that Jamal is continuing to progress. They tried a breathing trial. He didn't have the strength to continue it for long. We are thankful Jamal has grown to this point. This is just the first of many trails. Two weeks ago he has laboring to breathe, now he is regaining the capacity to breathe independently.

Please pray for Jamal's ability to endure the trials and build his ability to persevere each breathing trial and gain capacity. Thank God for His mercy and grace. Also, thank Him for all His healing power. Continue to pray for our family as we learn how to unify to support Jamal's recovery. As always pray for spiritual recovery and that God will mend. hearts and relationships.

Please leave Jamal a message of encouragement so that when he recovers he knows all the people who have stood with him.

Each of you are a blessing. I appreciate you all for daily remembering Jamal and his children.

Day 11 Updates

Day 11 Updates 050520

Again, Praise God for progress! I spoke with Jamal's nurse today about his status. They had to increase his sedation to address his anxiousness. In spite of this minor setback, he has continued to breathe while on his back via the ventilator over the last two days. His oxygen intake level down to 30 and his PEEP is still at 10.

Once he continues to move forward the doctor will determine when to start breathing trials. The goal of the breathing trial is to decrease the support of the ventilator and allow Jamal to breathe on his own. When he can breathe without becoming exhausted he will be taken off of the ventilator. The nurse said Jamal was alert and is making eye contact.

When you pray, thank God for Jamal continuing to progress rather than regress. Thank God for evidence of His healing power in Jamal's life. Please continue to lift his children, grandchildren and family before the Lord.  Also, ask God to continue strengthen Jamal for the days ahead.

Thank you all for all the love and the support!

Day 9 Updates

Day 9 Updates 050320

Thanks everyone for continuing to pray. Jamal's nurse today is Lucas again and he said that Jamal is stable and alert. They have decreased his sedation. He was administered anxiety medicine to help him adjust to having the tube in his throat and being awake. Jamal continues to breathe on his back which is significant progress. His numbers are the same as yesterday and Lucas is really thankful for Jamal's development.

Please continue to pray and thank God for His grace and healing power. He is helping Jamal to recover. Pray that God will help him be at peace with the process and not become anxious while dealing with the the tubes and ventilator process. Continue to lift the Woodley Family during this process. I look forward to the day when Jamal is recovered and able to share his testimony and use his experience as a catalyst to heal our family and many others.

Thank you so much for standing with us. Bless you!

Day 8 Updates

Day 8 Updates 050220

I am continually awed by God's faithfulness and thankful each of your prayers for Jamal, his nurses, doctors and children. In speaking with Lucas his nurse today he shared that Jamal is stable. He shared that he has seen a significant improvement in Jamal's condition since he served him last. He continues to breathe while lying on his back. This was one of the four steps that Marcy, the nurse from last night shared would be necessary for him to finish his time with the ventilator. His oxygen had to be increased back to 40 and his PEEP is still at 10.

Please thank God that Jamal is being taken off the paralytic drug to bring him back to consciousness. Lucas said that Jamal is aware and squeezed his hand while he made eye contact. This is good news! The next step is to decrease his sedation and for him begin to undertake breathing trials.

In summary, Jamal has made significant progress due to God's healing power, his tenacity to recover and your prayers. He has come very far and still a long way to go. He still has to fight for his full recovery. We are believing God for a complete healing and spiritual restoration.

Family and Friends, please pray that Jamal continues to fight to recover and experience God's healing presence during this time. Always lift up his nurses and medical professionals as they aid in the healing process. Continue to pray for his children and grandchildren that they are overwhelmed by God's presence and that their concerns and fears will dissipate. Finally, please remember his brothers for healing and restoration of relationships.

Please, if you are inclined write a message of encouragement in the comments section to share with Jamal as he emerges from this ordeal.

As always, thank you and thank you!

Day 7 Updates

Day 7 Updates 050120

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! I spoke with his nurse Marcy. Jamal is making progress. While he is still on the ventilator his PEEP (1) has decreased from 12-10 a normal level is from 3-5.  His oxygen intake was at 80 which is high and moved to 40 and now it at 35. The optimal level is 30. They placed him on his side to improve his levels and now he is lying on his back.

He is still on a paralytic that has him in an induced coma with heavy sedation. According to Marcy the next steps are:

  1. Seeing if he can tolerate breathing on his back for a few more days.
  2. Decreasing the paralytic to bring him out of the coma.
  3. Leveling down the amount of sedation to increase his ability to breathe on his own.
  4. Decreasing the pressure of the ventilator to enable Jamal to have breathing trails to increase his strength to breath.
Please join me in thanking God for the progress He has enabled. Keep praying for Jamal's nurses, Janice, Candice, Heidi, Sam, and Marcy. Ask God to give them both strength, wisdom and skill in Jamal's care. Remember our family, pray that God's Spirit will restore and repair minds, hearts and relationships. Most of all pray that Jamal will make the progress noted above and that he will emerge from this episode completely healed and walking fully in his God given purpose.

Thank you all for the prayers and support you are showing for Jamal, his children, grandchildren and family.

1. PEEP: Abbreviation for positive end-expiratory pressure. A method of ventilation in which airway pressure is maintained above atmospheric pressure at the end of exhalation by means of a mechanical impedance, usually a valve, within the circuit.
